Softball Dealt a Pair of Losses to West Chester

Goldey-Beacom battles hard but falls twice, 5-1 and 3-2, to West Chester in an out of conference match up in Wilmington, DE. 

In game one, Emily Maseth hit an RBI triple to left center field to give West Chester a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 

Goldey-Beacom answered in the bottom of the third inning when Braydee Whitman (Dagsboro, Del.) hit an RBI single up the middle to tie the game.

West Chester added two more run in the top of the fourth inning when Annamarie Hartman reached on a fielder's choice which allowed for Caroline Adams and Heidi McCollester to score. The Golden Rams went on two score two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to win game one 5-1.

Kelly Tinsman (4-3) pitched four innings with three strike outs and only allowed one run for West Chester. Meagan Kavanagh (S, 2) got the save pitching three innings with three strike outs. 

Taylor Beres (Middletown, Del.)(6-15) pitched all seven innings with five strike outs for Goldey-Beacom. 

Jaeda Henriquez (Hoboken, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with one run for the Lightning in game one. 

In game two, Rachel Davis (Bethel, Del.) bunted and reached on a fielder's choice which allowed for Zoe Lockwood (Chesapeake City, Md.) to score. 

The Lightning held the lead until the top of the sixth inning when West Chester got their momentum going. Maseth reached on a throwing error by the short stop and got the whole way to third which allowed for Hartman to score to tie the game. 

The Golden Rams kept it going when McCollester hit an RBI triple to center field to give West Chester the lead. McCollester then scored off of a wild pitch to give West Chester a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning. 

Goldey-Beacom continued to battle in the bottom of the seventh when Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, N.J.) hit an RBI single downline the right field line to make it a one point game. 

The Golden Rams shut down the Lighting the rest of the inning to win game two, 3-2. 

Whitman went 3-for-2 and Ali Henriquez (Hoboken, N.J.) went 1-for-1 in game two for Goldey-Beacom. 

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill at 2:30pm in Wilmington, DE.
