Softball Falls Twice to Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom falls twice to Bloomsburg, 7-0 and 5-2, in an out of conference match up in Wilmington, DE.
 

In game one, Bloomsburg took an early lead in the top of the second inning when Julia Knight hit a single RBI double to center field. Abby Wild reached on an error by the first baseman which also allowed for Emily Getz to score. Danielle Barnes hit a double RBI down the right field line to put the Huskies up 4-0. 

Bloomsburg continued to put the pressure on the Lightning in the top of the fifth when Knight hit a three RBI triple to center field. The Huskies up 7-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Goldey-Beacom continued to battle in the bottom of the fifth with bases loaded and two outs. Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, Md.) flied out to center to end the inning. Bloomsburg goes on to win game 7-0.

Abby Wild (5-3) pitched all seven innings with nine stake outs and only two hits. 

In game two Goldey-Beacom took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, N.J.) nailed a single to right field causing an error by the right fielder. Rachel Davis (Bethel, Del.) scored off a throwing error by the right fielder. The Lightning up 1-0 at the end of the second and third inning. 
 

In the bottom of the fourth inning Taylor Beres (Middletown, Del.) reached on a fielder's choice. The first baseman hesitated to throw home and Kayla Vaillancourt (Edgewater, Md.) scored before the catcher received the ball. Goldey-Beacom lead the Huskies 2-0 the whole way to the seventh inning.
 

At the the top of the seventh inning, the Lightning were looking to get three outs to end the game with a 2-0 lead. Bloomsburg despite being down two in the last inning, didn't give up. Sammi Starr hit an in the park home run to get Bloomsburg's momentum going. Tara Baney followed with a single RBI to left field to tie the game 2-2. The Huskies went on to score three more runs with a double RBI double from Barnes and a RBI single from Erin DelPierre. 

Goldey-Beacom continued to battle but Bloomsburg's five runs in the top of the seventh won them the game 5-2.

Tara Baney (1-6) pitched 3.2 innings with two strike outs and only allowed one hit.

Braydee Whitman (Dagsboro, Del.) went 3-for-2 in game two and Davis went 3-for-2 with one run.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Monday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home doubleheader match up against Caldwell at 2pm in Wilmington, DE.
