Goldey-Beacom put forth a gutty battle against Division I Delaware and took two of the rubbers to match tiebreaks in a 7-0 loss at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

In a rarity for the Lightning (10-3), they could not convert for the doubles point.  The closest encounter saw junior Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and freshman Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) at third doubles drop a 7-5 match to Sarah Hall and Sarah Whited.

The singles matches saw the last two decided rubbers prove to be thrilling contests.  Sophomore Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) was dealt a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2) loss at second singles against Caragh Courtney and freshman Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) was handed a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) setback by Annie Jaskulski at No. 6 singles.

It was the second match of the year for Goldey-Beacom, ranked seventh in the East according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, against a Division I opponent.  GBC on March 15 recorded a 6-1 triumph over Delaware State.

Goldey-Beacom next Tuesday battles the District of Columbia, starting at 11:45 am.  Please note that will take place at Elkton Indoor Tennis in Elkton, MD.
