Corey Taite Takes Over for Men’s Basketball in 91-69 Victory Over Post



Senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) scored 27 of his season-best 37 points in the second half, when Goldey-Beacom ran away and hid in a 91-69 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Post at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
Goldey-Beacom turned a 38-37 halftime deficit into a blowout, outscoring Post 54-31 in the second half by shooting 63 percent (20-of-32) from the floor and limiting the visitors to only 34 percent (11-of-32).  Taite, the reigning CACC Player of the Year, shot 9-of-12 from the floor with freshman Giovanni Jones (Norfolk, VA) adding seven points.
 
Taite could not be stopped in topping his season high of 36 points from November 28 at Adelphi.  His career high of 40 points occurred December 16, 2017 at Adelphi.  Taite tonight also had a career-best 13 field goals to go with hitting five 3-pointers.
 
Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) poured in 14 points to go with eight rebounds, fellow sophomore Kyle Elliot (Rahway, NJ) also netted 14 points with Jones scoring 11 for the Lightning, who shot 58 percent (36-of-62) from the field with eight 3-pointers.
 
Tyshon Rogers netted 23 points, Marcus Johnson had 16 and 10 rebounds with Savion Boissard adding 12 points for the Eagles (8-15, 5-9 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom (11-12, 9-5) widened its lead over Holy Family (7-6) to 1 1/2 games for second place in the CACC South Division.  Its magic number for clinching a spot in the CACC Tournament is one.
 
Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday travels to East Falls to Jefferson.  The game begins at 8:00 pm, which follows the women's 6:00 pm contest.
