Men's Basketball Falls to Jefferson 85-69



Goldey-Beacom was handed an 85-69 loss by Jefferson in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest in Philadelphia, PA.

Goldey-Beacom took an early in the first seven minutes at 17-10. Jefferson quickly answered reducing the gap and tying the Lightning 27-27 in the 12th minute. At the end of the first half, Jefferson remained ahead of Goldey-Beacom by two.

Troy Stancil (Washington, D.C.) netted 12 points for the Lightning and Marcellus Livingston (Linden, N.J.) added nine in the first half for the Lightning. DeVaughn Mallory had 18 points for the Rams in the first half.

Goldey-Beacom came out strong in the second half, going on an nine-point scoring streak to take the lead in the first five minutes. Both teams continue to battle as they become within points of each other. Jefferson took the lead, scoring eight points straight going up 78-63 with 1:26 remaining. Deondre Bourne lead Jefferson in the second half with 18 points to help them clinch the win.

Livingston scored 15 points, Kyle Elliot (Rahway, N.J.) added 11 and Corey Taite (Sayreville, N.J.) netted 10 for the Lightning.

Bourne totaled 25 points, Mallory had a double-double with 22 and 14 rebounds with Kylan Guerra adding 15 points for Jefferson.

Goldey-Beacom (11-13, 9-6 CACC) is sitting in second place in the CACC South Division, 1 1/2 games ahead of Holy Family (7-7) and Wilmington (7-7).  Its magic number for a conference-tournament berth remains one with USciences defeating Holy Family.

The Lightning are back in action on Saturday vs. Dominican (NY) at 3:00 pm in Orangeburg, New York following the women's contest.
