Softball Ends Stay in Myrtle Beach With Two Sunday Games

Goldey-Beacom gave its best the entire weekend, but left Myrtle Beach, SC on Sunday with a pair of losses.

GBC opened with a 5-2 loss against fourth-ranked Saint Anselm before an 8-0 setback to Lock Haven.  This closes a weekend in which Goldey-Beacom played four teams which ended last season regionally ranked, including both of Sunday's opponents.

The Lightning in the opener gained a 2-1 lead in the third inning when junior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) lined an RBI single.  Freshman Emily Lozowski (Marlton, NJ) scored, followed by sophomore Zoe Lockwood (Chesapeake City, MD) with a great slide.

Goshorn ended with two hits.

Erin Thompson had three hits with Maddison Leite and Jordon O'Connor each homering for the Hawks.

GBC in game two fell victim to Kayla Gee, who tossed a one-hit shutout with two strikeouts for Lock Haven.

Freshman Braydee Whitman (Dagsboro, DE) continued her impressive debut weekend, rapping a double in the first inning.

Gee homered and so did Bryann Hilty after she was hit by a pitch earlier in the contest.  Faith Ceely amassed three stolen bases for the Bald Eagles.

Goshorn for the weekend hit .467 (7-for-15) with Whitman hitting .417 (5-for-12) with two home runs.

Goldey-Beacom plays its home opener Sunday, March 3 against West Chester.  First pitch at the Jackson Complex is at noon.
