Softball Opens 2019 With Two Games in Myrtle Beach



Freshman Braydee Whitman (Dagsboro, DE) homered in each game and senior Rachel Davis (Bethel, DE) collected her 100th career hit for Goldey-Beacom, which commenced its 2019 season with a pair of losses in Myrtle Beach, SC.
 
GBC opened with a 13-5 setback to Kutztown before an 8-4 loss to Millersville.
 
Whitman in the opener blasted a two-run homer in the third inning with sophomore Taylor Beres getting (Middletown, DE) an RBI single in the fourth.  Whitman and sophomore Zoe Lockwood (Chesapeake City, MD) ended with two hits apiece for the Lightning (0-2).
 
Tamara Jennings went 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Bears (1-1).
 
Sophomore Ali Henriquez (Hoboken, NJ) in game two blasted a solo homer in the second inning to give GBC a 1-0 lead.  Whitman crushed a leadoff homer in the fifth inning and Davis later in the frame singled, becoming the 28th player in team history to reach 100 career hits.
 
Junior Jess Lusk (Victoria, BC) rapped two hits among the Lightning's 10 in the contest.
 
Hunter Little crushed two home runs and Allie Janowiak lofted one for the Marauders (1-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom is back in action Saturday against West Virginia State at 10:00 am and Southern New Hampshire at noon.
