Women’s Basketball Falls, 61-43, at Bridgeport



Goldey-Beacom played solidly in the opening half, but could not carry that play into the second half and was dealt a 61-43 loss at Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.
 
Goldey-Beacom held a 27-26 halftime lead by limiting Bridgeport to just 36 percent shooting (10-of-28) from the field.  Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) netted eight points in the half with fellow sophomores Sarah Round (Northampton, England) and Vera Lauhaluoma (Espoo, Finland) adding six apiece.
 
The third quarter saw the Purple Knights held to just 39 percent shooting (7-of-18), but they owned a 16-6 edge on the scoreboard to open a 42-33 lead.  Gracen Kerr went off for 12 points in the period on 5-of-7 shooting.
 
Bridgeport in the fourth quarter shot 42 percent (8-of-19) from the field and outscored GBC 19-10 for the final.  Alyzae Davis and Samirah Henderson came off the bench to pour in seven points apiece.
 
Round overall netted 12 points and Harrison added 10 for the Lightning (0-5).  Kerr scored 19 points, Davis contributed 11 and Henderson added 10 for the Purple Knights (2-6).
 
Goldey-Beacom opens its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule Saturday at Chestnut Hill.  Game time is at 1:00 pm with the men's contest between the same schools at 3:00 pm.
