Goldey-Beacom was handed a 77-64 setback by Chestnut Hill in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Philadelphia, PA.
Goldey-Beacom took the early lead going on a seven-point scoring streak to start out the first quarter. Sophomore Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, Pa.) had 10 points for the Lightning in the first quarter. Goldey-Beacom shot 52.94 percent (9-17) from the floor and Chestnut Hill shot 26.67 percent (4-15) from the field.
Chestnut Hill won the second quarter 20-10 making the score 34-33 at halftime with Goldey-Beacom up by one. In the third quarter, Chestnut Hill pulled ahead to make the score 57-36.
Despite being down by 20, the Lightning continued to battle closing the gap in the fourth quarter. Goldey-Beacom shot 66.67 percent (10-15) from the field goal but Chestnut Hill went on to win 77-64.
Weikert netted a career-best 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting with seven 3-pointers and three steals. Senior Jill Latanowich (Newton, Mass.) had 13 points and six rebounds with sophomore Sarah Round (Northampton, England) adding seven points for Goldey-Beacom.Â
Lauren Crim scored 24 points, Bri Hewlett netted 16 and Cassie Sebold added 14 for Chestnut Hill.Â
Goldey-Beacom takes the court again on Monday vs. Millersville at 6pm in Wilmington.
