Goldey-Beacom fell, 84-51, to No. 4 Saint Anselm in an out of conference match up in Manchester, NH.
Saint Anselm went ahead early scoring six quick points. The Lightning fought in the first quarter to keep the score close but Saint Anselm increased their lead by 12 at the end of the first quarter. Saint Anselm shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from the field goal in the first quarter.
Goldey-Beacom continued to battle to close the gap, but Saint Anselm outscored it 19-13 in the second quarter to make the score 32-24 going into half. The Lightning shot 37.5 percent (6-16) from the field goal with a single 3-pointer. Saint Anselm shot 44.4 percent (8-18) from the field goal and 100 percent (3-3) from the free-throw line.
Goldey-Beacom came out strong in the third quarter only losing the quarter 20-19 and shot 53.3 percent (8-15) from the field goal with two three-pointers. Saint Anselm shot 37.5 percent (6-16) from the field goal with eight free-throws.
Despite closing the gap a little, Saint Anselm out scored Goldey-Beacom 22-8 in the fourth quarter to win the game 84-51.
Senior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, N.J.) had 14 points and seven rebounds, senior Jill Latanowich (Newton, Mass.) recorded 12 and three with sophomores Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) and Sarah Round (Northampton, England) each netting 11 points for Goldey-Beacom.
Sara Messlerand and Peyton Steinman each scored 20 points with Shannon Ryan adding 16 for Saint Anselm.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Wednesday at 6pm vs. University of the Sciences in Wilmington, DE.
