Goldey-Beacom's second half run lifted it to a 72-54 win over New York Tech in an out-of-conference match up in Old Westbury, NY.
The Lightning and the Bears stayed neck in neck in the first half until two minutes left when New York Tech increased its lead by seven.Â
Goldey-Beacom shot 32.26 percent (19-of-31) from the field goal and hit one 3-pointer. New York Tech shot 28.95 percent (11-of-38)Â from the field with two 3-pointers.Â
In the second half, Goldey-Beacom went on a nine point scoring streak to take the lead 33-31 with 17 minutes remaining. The Lightning continued to grow their lead by 20 points with seconds remaining in the second half. Goldey-Beacom went on to win 72-54 with its huge second half.
The Lighting shot 65.63 percent (21-of-32) from the field goal with four 3-pointers and New York Tech shot 37.50 percent (9-of-24) from the field with one 3-pointer in the second half.Â
Junior Kyle Elliot (Rahway, N.J.) had 12 points, four assists and three rebounds, junior Tevin Service (Union, N.J.) notched 12 points two steals and two rebounds, and junior Tyler Jones (Lawrenceville, N.J.) had 10 points and six rebounds for Goldey-Beacom.
Dejavaughn Utley and Opong Bramble had 10 points each and Tim Dawson had nine points for New York Tech. Â
