Women’s Basketball Falls, 67-46, to No. 19 Le Moyne in its Season Opener



Goldey-Beacom received a great second-half showing from several of its newcomers, going against one of the nation's best in a 67-46 season-opening loss to 19th-ranked Le Moyne in Philadelphia, PA.
 
Goldey-Beacom found itself in a 37-16 hole at the break despite holding Le Moyne to just 38 percent shooting (16-of-42).  Le Moyne did own a decided rebounding advantage at 31-12 and forced GBC to shoot 39 percent (7-of-24) from the field.
 
Liz Millea scored 15 points in the opening half on 6-of-16 shooting and McKayla Roberts netted 10 for the Dolphins.
 
The Lightning came alive in the second half by playing the Dolphins to a 30-30 standstill.  GBC shot 44 percent (11-of-25) from the floor and held Le Moyne to just 37 percent (11-of-30).  Brianna Seltzer (Reading, PA) scored all 13 of her team-high points in the second half and fellow freshman Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) netted all nine of her points in that span.
 
Sophomore Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) overall scored six points for GBC (0-1), which shot 37 percent (18-of-49) from the field.
 
Roberts ended with 21 points, Millea netted 18 with Jenna Zimmerman hauling in 10 rebounds for the Dolphins (1-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday returns to Philadelphia to face 25th-ranked Bentley.  Game time is at noon.
