Goldey-Beacom was dealt a 1-0 loss to Mercy in an out of conference match up in Wilmington, DE.
In the opening half, Mercy struck first in the fifth minute when it earned a corner kick. Natalia Elizarraras drove the ball into the box to Sydney Cooper, who placed it in the back of the net.
Goldey-Beacom and Mercy continued to battle but Mercy remained ahead 1-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Lightning and Mavericks went back and forth with Mercy outshooting Goldey-Beacom 5-0. Mercy's early goal in the first half gave it the advantage to win.Â
Senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE.) had two shots, sophomore Jackie Ayers (Rising Sun, MD.) had one and freshman Noel Talbot (Marriotsville, MD.) recorded seven saves for Goldey-Beacom.
Cooper, Claudia McKail and Mackenzie Warner all had two shots each for Mercy.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action on Tuesday for the CACC quarterfinals at 2pm in Wilmington, DE. It will be host either Holy Family or Post.
