Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls, 82-74, at West Chester

Goldey-Beacom looked sharp for most of the second half, but could not finalize its comeback in an 82-74 loss at West Chester in West Chester, PA.

Goldey-Beacom in the first half limited West Chester to just 36 percent shooting (10-of-28) and 2-of-11 from 3-point range to open a 32-29 halftime cushion.  Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) scored 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting with fellow junior Tevin Service (Union, NJ) adding nine and seven rebounds.

The second half did not start well for the Lightning, who saw the Golden Rams go on a 17-3 run to open the stanza for a 46-39 lead with 13:29 left.  Robbie Heath netted seven points in that time and Malik Jackson added six.

GBC came back with a 13-7 run in just under three minutes, moving to a 53-48 deficit with 9:50 remaining.  Livingston again continued his solid play by netting seven points in that time.

The Golden Rams built a 63-50 lead, but the Lightning then went on a 20-12 burst over the next 5 1/2 minutes to move to 75-70 with 2:43 remaining.  Junior Tyler Jones (Lawrenceville, NJ) poured in seven points in that time and Livingston added five.

Heath made one free throw with two minutes left for a 76-70 contest, before Livingston's jumper with 56 seconds to go cut the deficit to four.  However, Jackson all but ended things with 46 seconds to play by nailing two free throws.

Livingston continued his tear with 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting over all 40 minutes, moving into 15th place in school history with 854 career points.  Service had 10 points and eight rebounds with Jones contributing 10 and five for the Lightning (0-5), who shot 47 percent (14-of-30) from the field in the second half and 42 percent (28-of-67) overall.
