Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Dealt Tough 1-0 Loss by Post

Goldey-Beacom gave up a late goal to Post and was handed a tough 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

A tense contest that featured plenty of defense in the first half saw a 0-0 halftime score.  The Lightning only had a 3-2 shots edge and possessed the only shot on goal.

Opportunities were few after intermission, but the Eagles found the elusive goal in the 74th minute.  Phillimon Bedard-Khaid had a ball on the left side and launched a perfect cross for Alvaro Sanchez, who headed it in for his 11th tally of the season.

The Lightning did their best to generate offense, but the Eagles clamped down on the defense and held on in a contest that featured just three shots on cage.

Sergio Diaz had three shots and Jordan Brown closed with two saves for Post (10-3-3, 7-2-2 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (11-7, 8-4) remains in second place in the CACC, but many teams below it still have games in hand.  The squad will not know its seed in the conference tournament until next week.

GBC before the match took time to honor seniors Steve Golding (Gosport, England), Jamie McAvoy (Ayr, Scotland), Levi Maruca (Downingtown, PA) and Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) for their contributions to the program.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action Monday, November 11 in the CACC Tournament quarterfinals.  Please check GBCAthletics.com next week for more information.
