Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Season Ends with 1-0 Loss to Jefferson in the CACC Semifinals

Goldey-Beacom's standout season that featured many accomplishments and awards came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Jefferson in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals in Waterbury, CT.

Jefferson controlled play early and then got on the board in the 12th minute.  Laural Erick had the ball on the right side and played a feed to MaryKate Ulmer, who was on the doorstep and tapped it inside the right post.

Freshman Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, MD) made eight saves for the Lightning (11-7-2), Dena Noiseux attempted six shots and Erin Tinneny had one save for the Rams (14-5).

This marks the end of yet another great season for the Lightning, who advanced to the CACC semifinals a program-record third straight year.  It also is a school-record sixth consecutive season they played in the CACC Tournament and a program-best fourth straight year they hosted a quarterfinal game.

The contest also ends the collegiate career for senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE), who put together one of the most memorable, mesmerizing and stunning two-years runs this middle-aged author can recall.  She ends first in school history with 39 career goals, first with 25 single-season goals, first with 57 single-season points, second with 92 career points and tied for seventh with 14 career assists.

Fannon's goals and points both are second best in CACC single-season history.  She entered the match leading Division II in goals, points, goals per game and points per game this year.

The individual highlights also include Fannon being named the league's Player of the Year, sophomore Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) also selected first team and junior Kelly Mejia (State College, PA) picked second team.  Junior Rose Benjamin (North East, MD) was the CACC Top XVI Award winner for having the best GPA at the finals site with her and junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) also tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District.
