Three for Men’s Soccer Tabbed Second Team All-CACC

Goldey-Beacom's Men's Soccer team has enjoyed a resurgence back into the spotlight and this has earned sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), Sergi Varona (Barcelona, Spain) and fellow junior Ethan Maguire (Sydney, Australia) the nod in being picked second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
 
Coimbra blossomed during the spring and that carried over into what has been a strong fall campaign.  A solid midfielder with great skills both on offense and defense, Coimbra is 31st in the nation with seven assists, 64th with 0.39 assists per contest, fifth in the league in assists, 10th with 19 points and 17th with six goals.
 
Coimbra recorded five multi-point games this season, including a five-point contest both September 9 against Shepherd and October 26 vs. Bloomfield.
 
Varona has seen his playing time increase each season and that earned this deserved honor.  Possessing the skills of both a forward and a midfielder, he is 24th in the CACC with five goals and 28th with 11 points.
 
Varona scored twice in the Lightning's huge 2-1 victory October 19 at Concordia (NY) and has started the last four contests he has played.
 
Maguire made his presence felt once stepping foot on campus in 2017 and his play is one of the major reasons for the Lightning's recent success.  He is 62nd in the country with six assists and 92nd with 0.35 assists per contest.
 
Maguire in midseason enjoyed a run in which he had a point in six contests during a seven-game stretch.
 
Goldey-Beacom (11-7, 8-4 CACC) is back in the CACC Tournament for the fourth time in five seasons and is the number four seed.  It will host fifth-seeded Georgian Court on Monday at 1:30 pm in Wilmington, DE.
