Women’s Tennis Keeps Rolling With 7-0 Victory at Post

Goldey-Beacom kept it stellar play going with convincing doubles wins and straight-set singles triumphs in a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Post in Middlebury, CT.

The double session was without worry as the Lightning dropped just one game. Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) and fellow sophomore Imane Van Veen (Paris, France) got a 6-1 triumph at first doubles over Andrea Sandoval and Areej Fareh, senior Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden) rolled to a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles over Macha Mourier and Alexandra Dereban with sophomore Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) and senior Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) notching a 6-0 victory at third doubles vs. Sabrina Martino and Aryana Powell.

After a retirement at fourth singles, senior Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) notched a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at fifth singles over Martino with Radeke getting a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles against Powell. Van Veen recorded a 7-5, 6-3 victory at first singles over Sandoval, sophomore Elin Anderson (Conwy, Wales) got a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over Farah and Edebo posted a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at third singles over Dereban.

This marks the fourth consecutive season the Lightning (5-0, 5-0 CACC) have won their first five matches, including runs of 12-0 in 2017-18 and 11-0 the season prior. The squad also has won 29 of their last 30 CACC regular-season matches and its fifth consecutive against Post (5-5, 3-2).

Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday is at Delcastle Tennis Center against Wilmington (DE) for a 2:00 pm match.
