Cross Country Partakes in the Don Cathcart Invitational

Goldey-Beacom again was showing its best on the course against some of the area's best, taking part in the Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, MD that annually attracts many of the elite harriers.

That certainly was the case with freshman Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA), who has enjoyed an incredible debut season and today ended 24th over the 8,000-meter course in 26:36.11. Freshman Chris Crossen (Magnolia, DE) was 39th in 27:22.36, sophomore Jon Roberts (Wilmington, DE) closed 82nd in 29:18.08 and senior Jacob Smeltzer (Merchantville, NJ) finished 84th in 29:26.17.

Goldey-Beacom ended ninth overall with 269 points and East Stroudsburg took first with 44 points.

The women's 6,000-meter race saw junior Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE) once again grab the spotlight, ending 43rd in 24:48.07. Freshman Lilly Crone (Felton, DE) was 61st in 26:02.19, senior Mary Ann Jones (Frederick, MD) ended 70th in 26:56.01, freshman Lexy Horsey (Selbyville, DE) closed 82nd in 28:14.14 and sophomore Sarah Webb (Newark, DE) finished 91st in 29:15.28.

GBC posted a ninth-place showing with 272 points and Stevenson won with 47 points.

Both teams have two weeks to prepare for the Gettysburg Invitational on October 19. The men's race is at 10:30 am and the women go at 11:30 am.
