Goldey-Beacom's experience in addition to relying on some key young players helped pave the way in the squad's tense but exciting 4-1 victory over University of the Sciences at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference semifinals in Middlebury, CT.

Second-seeded GBC (9-1) is headed back to the conference final and will face top-seeded Concordia (NY) on Saturday at noon for an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.  Goldey-Beacom won the CACC crown in both 2016 and 2017, and has played in the NCAA Tournament eight times.

GBC last season competed in the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest any team in the College's history has gone in this tournament.  This season marks the 12th straight year the Lightning have played in the CACC Tournament with all resulting in at least a berth in the semifinals.

Goldey-Beacom made quick work of the doubles point to grab a 1-0 lead.  Sophomores Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) and Imane Van Veen (Paris, France) got a 6-2 triumph over Karla Miletic and Myka Williams at first doubles before senior Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and sophomore Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) recorded a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Danielle Paran and Diana Sosonkin.

It is the eighth time this season the Lightning have captured the doubles point.

Van Veen, named first team All-CACC, kept her incredible play going by winning 6-1, 6-2 at second singles over Williams.  It was her ninth consecutive singles triumph, all in straight sets, and moved her to 10-2 in singles.

Miletic won at first singles to bring the Devils (8-7) within 2-1, but the Lightning had an answer.  Freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden), tabbed first team all-conference, rallied from a set down at fourth singles for a strong 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sosonkin.

Goldey-Beacom finally nailed down the match at sixth singles with senior Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) gutting out a 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Paran.  This gave the Lightning their fourth trip to the CACC final in the last six years and seventh overall.
