Goldey-Beacom this weekend will be heading into familiar waters, journeying to Connecticut and its 12th straight appearance in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

All of its appearances have resulted in a berth in at least the semifinals.  This year's bracket sees Goldey-Beacom as the number two seed and it will face third-seeded University of the Sciences on Friday at 1:00 pm in the second semifinal.  The first semifinal pits top-seeded Concordia (NY) against fourth-seeded Jefferson, also in Middlebury, CT, at 10:00 am.

The final at Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club is Saturday at noon with the champion earning an automatic berth next May into the NCAA Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom (8-1, 8-1 CACC) once again is back in the mix after going through a fourth consecutive league season without dropping more than one match.  The team also has won 32 of its last 34 CACC regular-season matches.

One of the major reasons for this fall's success has been freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden), who was picked first team all-conference.  Edebo has made an immediate impact this season, already owning an 8-2 singles record that includes 6-1 against the league and 4-0 in third singles.

Her presence was felt early in the campaign, when she posted a stunning straight-set victory over two-time CACC Player of the Year Karla Miletic in the first round of the ITA East Regional.

Edebo also owns a 10-1 mark in doubles, including 8-0 against the league with senior Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain), 7-0 in second doubles and a trip to the third round of the ITA East Regional.

Also tabbed first team all-conference was freshman Imane Van Veen (Paris, France), who also stood out as one of the Lightning's key players.  She owns a 9-2 singles mark that includes 6-1 at second singles and an appearance in the second round of the ITA East Regional.  She is on an eight-match winning streak in singles with all of the wins in straight sets.

Van Veen is 6-3 in doubles, including a 6-2 record against the league at first doubles.  Five of those wins have seen her and sophomore Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) not drop more than two games.

This fall's achievements comes of the heels of last season when Goldey-Beacom advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest any team in the College's history has gone in this tournament.  GBC also won the CACC title in 2016 and 2017, in addition to the school capturing the league's regular-season title each of the last three seasons.
