Another impressive campaign for Goldey-Beacom's women's tennis team produced two newcomers cited for their outstanding achievement with freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden) and sophomore Imane Van Veen (Paris, France) each tabbed first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Edebo made an immediate impact this season, already owning an 8-2 singles record that includes 6-1 against the league and 4-0 in third singles.  Her presence was felt early in the campaign, when she posted a stunning straight-set victory over two-time CACC Player of the Year Karla Miletic in the first round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional.

She also owns a 10-1 mark in doubles, including 8-0 against the league with senior Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain), 7-0 in second doubles and a trip to the third round of the ITA East Regional.

Van Veen also was one to be recognized, posting a 9-2 singles mark that includes 6-1 at second singles and an appearance in the second round of the ITA East Regional.  She is on an eight-match winning streak in singles with all of the wins in straight sets.

Van Veen is 6-3 in doubles, including a 6-2 record against the league at first doubles.  Five of those wins have seen her and sophomore Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) not drop more than two games.

In addition to this honor, Van Veen this week was selected to the league's Weekly Honor Roll with victories in singles and doubles against Chestnut Hill.

Goldey-Beacom (8-1, 8-1 CACC) once again is on a roll, earning the number two seed for the upcoming CACC Tournament.  The Lightning have not dropped more than one league match in the regular season over the last four years and have won 32 of their last 34 regular-season league encounters.

This comes of the heels of last season when Goldey-Beacom advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest any team in the College's history has gone in this tournament.  GBC also won the CACC title in 2016 and 2017, in addition to the school winning the league's regular-season title each of the last three seasons.
