Goldey-Beacom fought back in the third set but fell short in a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (18-25, 23-25, 25-21, 17-25) to Wilmington University in Newark, DE.
Wilmington went on a six-point scoring streak which helped it notch the first set. The Wildcats recorded 12 kills as a team and the Lightning only had eight. Goldey-Beacom started strong in the second set going on a nine-point scoring streak from the beginning but fell short.
Goldey-Beacom battled back and forth in the third set but came out on top. The Lightning recorded 11 kills to Wilmington's nine. Wilmington took an early lead in set four but Goldey-Beacom put up a fight. The fight was not enough as they fell short in the fourth set.
Sophomore Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) totaled 20 kills along with freshman Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) who recorded 14 kills. Senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) had 24 assists and freshman Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) had 14 for Goldey-Beacom.
Mandy Behiels recorded 16 kills, Jill Braunsberg had 11 and Bailey Andrews recorded 10 for Wilmington. Miranda Shaw notched 33 assists.
Goldey-Beacom is back at it on Friday against Holy Family at 7 PM in Wilmington, DE.
