Catarina Zheng and Maria Bruno Gain CACC Weekly Honors

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week and Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) has repeated as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Zheng had an impeccable week at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional that was highlighted by her doubles play with sophomore Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands). One year after the duo made the regional semifinals, they advanced to the final before a tough loss in a match tiebreak to Barbara Quagliardi and Diana Baumgartnere from New York Tech.

Zheng and Post have 21 career doubles wins, just three off the school's top 10 list.

Zheng also played in the singles draw, getting a 6-1, 6-4 win over Bruno in the second round before falling to Quagliardi in the third round.

Bruno only played in singles, making it through two rubbers in the qualifier round before upending Camila Humala from Le Moyne in the first round.
