Softball Swept by Wilmington (DE)

    

    Goldey-Beacom Softball fell to the hands of crosstown rival, Wilmington University, by scores of 1-4 and 0-10 at the Jackson Athletic Complex.

    In game one, the Lightning jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when the sophomore from Salisbury, MD, Kasey Goshorn (2-for-3), singled through the right side and brought home senior Lauren Conway (Hammonton, NJ).

    During the fifth inning, the doubleheader swung in favor of the Wildcats after Rosa'Lynn Burton doubled up the middle to score Jazmeen Llamas. One inning later, the Wildcats tacked on two runs thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Lauren Lopez and an RBI single from Lexi Baughman.

    Makayla McCarthy (8-6) snagged the win for the Wildcats by pitching a complete game allowing three hits with one earned run and striking out eight batters. She also went 2-for-3 from the batter's box.

    Taylor Beres (1-6), the freshman from Middletown, DE, took the loss after pitching a complete game giving up two earned runs and striking out five.

    After game one the Wildcats (18-10, 6-2 CACC) carried their momentum toward game two during the six inning blowout. 

    Notable batting performances for the Wilmington included Annie Davila going 3-for-4 from the batter's box with four RBIs, and Baughman hitting 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

    Caitlyn Whiteside (9-4) got the win for Wilmington pitching all six innings while allowing three hits and no earned runs.

    Kylie Doyle (0-6), the senior from Tower City, PA, received the loss on the mound for the Lightning.

    Goldey-Beacom (1-14, 1-9 CACC) will play their next doubleheader against Dominican (NY) on Friday, April 6th at the Jackson Athletic Complex in Wilmington, DE.
