Softball Seniors Sent Off With Doubleheader Sweep of Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom's seniors made their final home doubleheader a memorable one with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference sweep, 6-5 and 9-3, of Bloomfield at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Senior Kelsey Brandle (Bethlehem, PA) grabbed one of the headlines in the opener with an infield single for her 100th career hit.  She becomes the 27th player in school history to reach that plateau.

GBC owned a 4-3 lead entering the last of the second before getting two runs for a three-run margin.  Senior Lauren Conway (Hammonton, NJ) had an RBI single of the middle and later scored on a misplayed grounder from sophomore Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, NJ).

Brandle, Conway, sophomore Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) and junior Rachel Davis (Bethel, DE) had two hits apiece for the Lightning.  Tower City, PA senior Kylie Doyle (3-9) got the win with two strikeouts over seven innings.

Kiersten Coho (4-10) gave up six runs and 11 hits over six innings with three strikeouts for the Bears.  Brianna Johnson, Mariah Wysocki and Jerae Keli'ikoa had two hits apiece.  Keli'ikoa and Veronica Brundage each notched two RBI.

Game two belonged to Goshorn, who had a career-best six RBI that included a two-run homer in the first for a 2-0 lead.  It was her second long ball of the year.

Senior Autumn Hollis (Elkton, MD) lifted a sacrifice fly in the second for a 3-0 cushion and Goshorn followed suit in the fourth for a four-run lead.

GBC held a 5-3 lead entering the last of the sixth when Goshorn roped a three-run double to make it a five-run contest.  Freshman Taylor Beres (Middletown, DE) added an RBI single later in the frame for the final.

Beres (2-13) struck out four over seven innings, yielding three runs – two earned – and six hits for the Lightning (5-30, 5-19 CACC)

Lauren Booth (2-5) gave up five runs – two earned – and six hits over 3 1/3 innings for Bloomfield (11-21, 11-15).  Sarisha Daugherty went 3-for-3 with three RBI and Brundage collected two hits.

Goldey-Beacom on Sunday hits the road for a make-up doubleheader at Chestnut Hill.  First pitch in Philadelphia is at 3:00 pm.
