Softball Falls Twice at Caldwell



Goldey-Beacom headed north to face perennial power Caldwell and was handed a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference losses, 9-1 and 7-4, in Caldwell, NJ.
 
Game one was highlighted with Christina Misiur launching a solo homer in the third inning and Kaileen Cain adding a two-run shot later in the frame for a 6-1 lead.
 
Senior Autumn Hollis (Elkton, MD) had an RBI groundout for the Lightning.  Middletown, DE freshman Taylor Beres (1-12) allowed six runs – four earned – and six hits over 2 2/3 innings.
 
Sara Bearden (12-6) permitted an unearned run and two hits over five innings with five strikeouts for the Cougars.  Misiur, Maya Rodriguez, Marisa Monasseri and Katelyn Johnson all had two hits.
 
GBC in game two trailed 7-0 entering the seventh before getting four runs to just fall short.  Beres drove in a run on an error, sophomore Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) lined a two-run single and Hollis added an RBI single.
 
Sophomore Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, NJ) finished with three hits with Goshorn and sophomore Kylie Quirk (Newark, DE) getting two apiece for the Lightning (3-28, 3-19 CACC).  Millville, NJ junior Alexa Calareso (0-7) gave up seven runs and eight hits over six innings.
 
Jessie Johnston (11-7) allowed four unearned runs and eight hits over seven innings for Caldwell (23-13, 17-1).  Kiahna Silva rapped two hits.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Monday steps out of conference to visit Lock Haven for a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
