Softball Falls Twice at West Chester



Goldey-Beacom went against a solid foe in West Chester and was handed a pair of losses, 8-0 and 9-1, in West Chester, PA.
 
West Chester in game one got six runs in the last of the fifth inning for the final.  Cat Hammer blasted a solo homer in the frame and Sara Ercolani added a two-run double.
 
Amanda Houck (16-3) was the story for the Rams in tossing a one-hit shutout, striking out five over five innings and facing just two batters above the minimum.  Bri Garber went 3-for-3 two RBI.
 
Freshman Taylor Beres (Middletown, DE) recorded an infield single in the second inning for the Lightning.
 
Game two saw the Golden Rams plate five runs in the last of the third inning for an 8-1 lead.  Garber stroked an RBI single to left field and Jaime Klemas ended the frame's scoring with a three-run long ball.
 
Sophomore Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, NJ) lined a run-scoring single in the first inning for the Lightning run.  Sophomore Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) collected two hits, giving her a hit in 10 of her last 12 contests for GBC (2-21).

Beres had a hit in the nightcap and is riding a six-game hitting streak.
 
Garber had two hits and three RBI with Courtney Stump also getting two hits for West Chester (24-9).  Kelly Tinsman gave up a run and seven hits over five innings.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Friday returns to play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as it visits Post.  First pitch in Waterbury, CT is 1:00 pm.
