On a brisk day at the Jackson Athletic Complex, Softball got swept by East Stroudsburg by scores of 4-0 and 11-6.
The scoreless game one came to a halt in the fifth inning when Sofia Cecchin ran across home plate on a sacrifice bunt attempt from Kaylee Hazewski.
Notable batting performances for East Stroudsburg included third baseman Mary Wallick (2-for-4) and Madison Vicendese (2-for-3).
Angelica Dark (5-11) pitched a spectacular seven innings for the Warriors while allowing two hits and no runs.
Taylor Beres (1-8), the freshman from Middletown, DE, pitched well in the loss for the Lightning. She tallied four strikeouts and allowed one earned run.Â
After a promising start in game two, the Lightning let their lead slip away.Â
Down 0-2 in the bottom of the first inning, Goldey-Beacom rounded off four runs. The rally consisted of an RBI single from Beres, an RBI single from Rachel Davis (junior from Bethel, DE), and an RBI triple from Dianna Gatto (sophomore from Jefferson, NJ).
Once East Stroudsburg (10-16) decided to put Mickayla Grow on the mound, the momentum slowly swung back in favor of the Warriors. Eventually, the Warriors scored nine unanswered runs which started in the third inning and carried into the top of the seventh inning.
The best players in the batters' box for the Warriors included Madison Oren (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Madison Vicendese (3-for-4, 2 RBI).
Sophomore Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) dominated at the plate going 4-for-4 for the Lightning. Davis provided stellar hitting going 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI.
Grow (2-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs during her win.
Kylie Doyle (1-8), the senior from Tower City, PA, received the loss on the mound for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom (2-19) returns to play Thursday at West Chester. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm.
