No. 43 Women's Tennis' Unbeaten Run Over With 7-2 Loss at IUP

Goldey-Beacom's first match of the season as a nationally ranked squad did not go as planned with the 43rd-ranked unit handed a 7-2 loss at Indiana (PA).

Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal), ranked 11th in the East Region, got a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win at second singles over Luise von Agris and fellow freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) notched a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at fourth singles against Nicole Beidacki.

The match was tightly contested considering each of the three doubles contests went at least 12 games and two of the singles rubbers went to a third set.

GBC (12-1) was off to its best start in team history and also is ranked second in the East Region. IUP (7-3) earlier this season was nationally ranked and presently is first in the Atlantic Region.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action Saturday at regionally ranked Slippery Rock in a 2:00 pm match.
