Bryson Attains Historic Milestone in Women’s Hoops' Triumph Over Nyack

Senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 100 career blocks, doing so in Goldey-Beacom's 68-54 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Nyack at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

In what has been a legendary career for the Lightning, Bryson entering the game needed just five rebounds to reach this lofty milestone.  She got it on a rebound with 3:06 left in the first half to also become the third player in team history to attain 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

The second team all-league pick from last year and third team all-conference selection from 2016 closed today with 18 points and 14 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season and 43rd career.  She moves into fifth place in school history with 1,403 points and her 1,009 rebounds keeps her in third.

Bryson also has three straight double-doubles and six in the last seven contests.

GBC put away things by netting 17 straight points over 7 1/2 minutes for a 51-26 lead with 4:24 left in the third quarter.  It was a balanced attacked that led the way with Bryson, freshman Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) and senior Marisa Howard (Twinsburg, OH) netting four points apiece to aid the Lightning in shooting 7-of-12 from the floor.

Sophomore Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) poured in 16 points – one off her season high – senior Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) had 12 and eight rebounds with Speaks netting 10 points for the Lightning, who shot 46 percent (26-of-56) from the field and dominated the boards with a 44-22 edge.

The 22-rebound edge marks the largest this season for the Lightning (7-15, 5-8 CACC), topping the 59-38 advantage December 2 at Chestnut Hill.

Yamalis Villegas scored 17 points, Bryanna Brown netted 12 and Japria Karim-Duvall added 10 for the Warriors (2-21, 2-12), who shot 39 percent (22-of-56) from the field and just 3-of-13 from three-point range.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Wednesday to face Holy Family.  Game time in Philadelphia is 6:00 pm, followed by the men's 8:00 pm contest.
