Women’s Tennis Headed Back to CACC Tournament With 7-0 Victory Over Post

Goldey-Beacom continued a pair of impressive streaks as it left Springton Club in Media, PA with a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Post.

The Lightning (6-0, 5-0 CACC), the two-time defending league champions, are headed back to the CACC Tournament an 11th straight year. The squad also has won 22 straight regular-season league matches dating to 2015.

Sophomores Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) got a 6-2 win at first doubles over Andrea Sandoval and Dea Lako with junior Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and freshman Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) notching a 6-3 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Areej Fareh and Juliana Seabra. Junior Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and freshman Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) posted a 6-2 win at third doubles over Jessica Bergen and Sarah Namazi.

Lesscher y Post rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at first singles over Sandoval, Zheng notched a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Fareh and Anna Hortelano Pey battled to a 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 victory at third singles over Lako. Bruno got a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles over Seabra, Elin Anderson (Conwy, Wales) notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory at fifth singles over Bergen with fellow freshman Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) amassing a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 singles over Namazi.

Bruno earlier today was named the CACC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season and Zheng was picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday heads to Northeast Philadelphia to battle Holy Family, beginning at 3:00 pm.
