Women’s Soccer Rolls to 4-0 Win Over Nyack in the CACC Tournament

Goldey-Beacom put on early pressure and was never headed in cruising to a record-setting 4-0 victory over Nyack in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Nancy Churchman Field in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom (15-4, 11-1 CACC) broke the school record for most victories and also for home wins win its ninth triumph.  The squad already had the team record with 11 league triumphs and extended its own school record with 62 goals this year.

GBC, the tournament's number two seed, is off to the semifinals for a second straight year and will face third-seeded Holy Family on Friday at 1:30 pm at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, CT.  It is the first time in program history the Lightning are in the semifinals in consecutive years.

Senior Sophie Greenwood (Burnley, England) in the fourth minute scored the only goal the Lightning would need.  She won a ball 20 yards from the cage, made several great moves in dribbling 15 yards and put home a shot for her third goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) kept the momentum going in the 13th minute for a 2-0 lead.  Taking a 35-yard free kick from the right side, Crammond, put one over the goalkeeper's head for her 12th tally of the season.

Freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) in the 59th minute netted her 10th of the season off Crammond's feed and junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) in the 76th minute tallied her third of the campaign off a pass from senior Sophie Woods (Manchester, England) for the final.

Crammond now is tied for second in team history with 30 goals and her 19 assists and 79 points keep her third.

Immediato ended with five shots and senior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) amassed three saves for the Lightning, who closed with a 23-5 shots edge.

Chloe Antalek attempted two shots and Nicole Benesch made seven saves for the seventh-seeded Warriors (5-10-1).
