Goldey-Beacom captured its third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular-season title and also gained a first-round bye for the league tournament with a 6-1 victory over University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Goldey-Beacom (8-1, 7-1 CACC) earned a share of the league's regular-season crown with Concordia-NY (7-1) and Wilmington-DE (7-1) as the conference recognizes all three with the honor.  By virtue of point differential in league matches, GBC is at plus-35 to earn the number two seed, Wilmington is the top seed with plus-40 and Concordia is third at plus-32.

The Lightning earn a bye into the semifinals of the six-team tournament and will play Saturday in Middlebury, CT at 1:00 pm.  Their opponent will be the winner of the first-round match between Concordia (NY) and sixth-seeded Jefferson.

GBC has won 24 of its last 25 CACC regular-season matches, is the two-time defending conference tournament champion and has played in the NCAA Tournament seven times.  It also is making its 11th appearance in the CACC Tournament, all have resulted in at least a berth in the semifinals.

Goldey-Beacom opened things by winning the doubles point for the eighth time this season.  Sophomores Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) got a 7-6 (7-4) victory at first doubles over Karla Miletic and Abby Gamarnik, junior Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and freshman Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) posted a 6-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Elkanah Linder and Danielle Parnan with freshmen Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) and Elin Anderson (Conwy, Wales) amassing a 6-2 win at third doubles over Steph Mazurek and Julia James.

The Lightning opened singles with Hortelano Pey getting a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Linder at third singles and freshman Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) notching a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles vs. James.

Anna Hortelano Pey is ninth in team history with 31 singles wins and Zheng stands 10th at 27.  Junior Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain), who did not play Sunday, is seventh with 30 doubles triumphs.  Lesscher y Post, Zheng and Anna Hortelano Pey all are tied for eighth at 28.
