Women’s Basketball Falls, 63-45, to Holy Family



Goldey-Beacom tried its best to overcome a tough third quarter, but was dealt a 63-45 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback to Holy Family at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
Holy Family took control in the third quarter by shooting 47 percent from the floor (8-of-17) and outscoring GBC, 17-9, for a 46-31 lead.  Jada Smith scored six points and Elizabeth Radley added four for the Tigers, who limited the Lightning to just 15-percent shooting (2-of-13) in that time.
 
Senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) closed with 16 points and nine rebounds, moving into sixth place in school history with 1,310 points.  She also made seven baskets to climb into fourth place in team annals with 531.
 
Junior Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) poured in 11 points for the Lightning (4-11, 2-4 CACC), who only shot 27 percent (18-of-66) from the field and 5-of-22 from 3-point range.
 
Casey Thomas had 14 points and 16 rebounds, Katie O'Hare netted 14 points and Casey Schweitzer kicked in 10 for the Tigers (3-11, 2-4), who shot 44 percent (24-of-55) from the floor and 4-of-17 from beyond the arc.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is at Felician for a 5:30 pm contest.  The men's game between the same schools follows at 8:00 pm in Rutherford, NJ.
