Women’s Basketball Falls, 75-64, to Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom gave up a crucial run late in the contest and was handed a 75-64 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss by Chestnut Hill at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Griffins netted six straight points in just under a minute to turn an eight-point lead into a 63-49 cushion with 3:35 to play.  Mary Trossi scored four points in that span.

The fourth quarter proved critical for Chestnut Hill, which only gained a 20-19 edge on the scoreboard but shot 15-for-16 from the foul line to not allow any comeback.  Trossi poured in nine points in that time with Shannon Glenn adding seven.

Senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) closed with 15 points and 11 rebounds, giving her 995 career rebounds.  She is on the verge of becoming the first player in Goldey-Beacom history with 1,000 career points, 1,000 rebounds and 100 blocks.

Senior Margherita Giubilei (Cesena, Italy) poured in a career-best 15 points with sophomore Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) adding 12 for the Lightning (6-15, 4-8 CACC), who shot 42 percent (28-of-67) from the field.
