Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Corey Taite’s 32 Points Helps Men’s Basketball to Fourth Straight Win

Junior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) poured in 32 points in leading Goldey-Beacom to a season-high-tying fourth straight win, 87-76 over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference-foe Chestnut Hill at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Chestnut Hill made things interesting by scoring 10 straight points in just over two minutes for a 75-68 deficit with 4:42 left.  Demetrius Isaac netted six points in that run.

The lead was 77-70 with just under three minutes before a critical possession for the Lightning.  Senior Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) got great position in the lane and muscled his way to an old-fashioned three-point play, making it 80-70 with 2:34 to go.

Taite again went on a tear, shooting 10-of-17 from the floor and 9-for-12 from the line to go with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.  This comes after he earlier this week was picked to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for a seventh time this season.

Taite moved into ninth place in school history with 1,079 career points, second with 276 free throws, tied for fourth with 125 three-pointers, fifth with 147 steals and eighth with 339 field goals.

Junior Mahir Johnson (Chester PA) scored 14 points, Thompson netted 13 with freshman Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) adding 10 for the Lightning, who also won four in a row from November 26-December 6.

Isaac netted 22 points, Roman Letterlough scored 18 on 9-of-10 shooting with Chris Evans adding 12 for the Griffins (3-17, 2-11 CACC).

GBC (13-8, 9-3) remains one-half game behind Jefferson (10-3) for first place in the CACC South Division.  Wilmington (DE) is just off the pace at 9-4 with only the top two teams in each division hosting a conference quarterfinal.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Nyack as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts at 3:00 pm, preceded by the women's 1:00 pm contest.
