Women’s Basketball Falls, 72-47, at Caldwell



Goldey-Beacom had its hands full against a talented Caldwell squad and left North Jersey with a 72-47 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss in Caldwell, NJ.
 
Caldwell in the first half went on a pair of 10-0 runs, the latter giving it a 32-16 lead with 3:13 remaining.  Kristen Drogsler and Tina Lebron each hit a 3-pointer in that span with Karlie O'Driscoll ending it on a layup.
 
The Cougars led 35-24 at the break despite only shooting 35 percent (13-of-37) from the floor and 5-of-16 from 3-point range.  Drogsler had 11 points and six rebounds in the half with Lebron adding nine points.
 
Junior Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) netted seven points in the half and senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) hauled in eight rebounds for the Lightning.
 
Caldwell ended the third quarter with the final nine points, which included 3-pointers from Lebron and Ziykara Hicks, for a 59-32 lead.  The Cougars scored 24 points in the period, shooting 9-of-18 from the field with four 3-pointers.
 
Turner-Rush ended with 13 points, giving her double figures in scoring in back-to-back games for a third time this season.  Bryson closed with eight points and 12 rebounds for the Lightning (6-13, 4-6 CACC), who shot 33 percent (16-of-48) from the floor.
 
Drogsler had 17 points and 12 rebounds, O'Driscoll came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points and Lebron added 15 for the Cougars (16-3, 9-1), who shot 39 percent (27-of-70) from the field and hit 12 three-pointers.
 
Caldwell entered the day sixth in the latest D2SIDA East Region Rankings.
 
Goldey-Beacom is off until Saturday, when it visits Post for a 1:00 pm contest.  The men's game between the same schools follows at 3:00 pm.
