Men’s Soccer Cruises to 7-0 Win Over Pittsburgh-Johnstown



Seven different players scored, including six in the first half, to help Goldey-Beacom roll to a 7-0 victory over Pittsburgh-Johnstown at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
 
Senior Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) set the tone for the Lightning by scoring 59 seconds into the match.  Junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany), senior Artur Zvinchuk (Bonn, Germany), freshman Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa), junior Callum Flynn (Guildford, England) and senior Darian Munoz (Rockville, MD) also tallied in the opening half for GBC, which owned a 22-0 shots edge in the stanza.
 
Freshman Ethan Maguire (Sydney, Australia) found the back of the net in the second half for the Lightning, which closed with a 39-2 shots edge.  Maguire ended up leading the squad with five shots.
 
Junior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) only played the first half in net and did not have to make a save for the Lightning (2-1).
 
It is Goldey-Beacom's most lopsided victory since a 9-0 triumph over Lincoln (PA) on October 29, 2010.
 
Nate Kleya was called on to make some solid saves, ending with 13 overall for the Mountain Cats (0-1-1)
 
Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday to visit Concordia (NY) as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men start after 2:15 pm, which follows the women's noon match.
