Softball Handed Two Setbacks at Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom ran into one of Pennsylvania's top teams in Bloomsburg and was dealt a pair of losses, 6-0 and 8-0, in Bloomsburg, PA.

Bloomsburg (25-15) in game one opened a 3-0 lead in the third on Taylor Winkelman's RBI single and Taylor Parker's two-run homer.  It got three more runs in the fourth, keyed by Anna McElroy's RBI single and Winkleman's squeeze bunt.

The Lightning could not handle Mallory Tomaschik (10-7), who struck out 15 and tossed a one-hit shutout over seven innings.  McElroy and Kelsey Impink notched two hits apiece for the Huskies, fifth this week in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings.

Millville, NJ sophomore Alexa Calareso (2-7) struck out two, yielding six runs – five earned – and seven hits over three innings for Goldey-Beacom (12-28).

The Huskies in game two took a 1-0 lead in the last of the third on Parker's RBI single.  Bridget Casey laced a run-scoring single in the fourth for a 2-0 contest.

Bloomsburg then won it with six runs in the fifth inning, aided by Parker's two-run homer and Marissa Shelhamer's two-RBI double.  Emily Mayhew ended things with a run-scoring single.

Parker tossed a no-hitter with six strikeouts over five innings.  She also closed with three hits and three RBI.

Tower City, PA junior Kylie Doyle (5-13) once again ran into a tough opponent, permitting four runs – three earned – and nine hits over 4 2/3 frames for GBC.

Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Georgian Court, beginning at 2:30 pm.
