Goldey-Beacom's second of three tests this week against regionally ranked foes was against a nationally ranked team and it was handed an 8-1 loss by No. 44 Queens (NY) at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

The lone bright spot for the Lightning was senior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany), who moved to 15-0 in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles over Emy Alplund of Queens (13-2), who is ranked 20th in the East Region.

The victory puts Sengl in sole possession of seventh place in school history for the most singles triumphs in one year.

GBC (13-2), ranked third in the East Region, opened the week with a 6-3 victory Sunday over fifth-ranked Stonehill.  The battle only gets tougher as the Lightning on Thursday entertain New York Tech, which is 32nd in the country and first in the region.

Thursday's match begins at noon.
