Softball Handed Two Setbacks by Bridgeport

Goldey-Beacom's game-one rally fell short in a 6-5 loss to Bridgeport before it was handed an 11-1 setback in the finale at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Bridgeport in the top of the sixth inning scored three times for a 6-2 lead, keyed by RBI singles from Kamryn Beach and Alexandria Rodi.  GBC got those three back in the last of the frame, but could get no closer.  Paulynn Mao (Anaheim, CA), fellow senior Charlee King (New Castle, DE) and junior Lauren Conway (Hammonton, NJ) all had RBI in the inning.

Beach had two hits and two RBI with Kaitlyn Lajoie (1-0) striking out seven over six innings, allowing just five runs – two earned – and four hits for the Purple Knights (0-2).  Ashley Eisnor tossed a scoreless seventh for the save.

Mao had two hits and two RBI with Tower City, PA junior Kylie Doyle (0-3) permitting six runs – four earned – and nine hits over six innings with two strikeouts for the Lightning (1-7).

Bridgeport in game two broke open things with seven runs in the seventh, highlighted by two-run hits each from Yalitza Rodriguez, Allison Luzzi and Tara Faford.

Beach and Rodriguez amassed two hits apiece in the finale.  Alyssa Bua (1-0) tossed five scoreless frames, yielding six hits.

Rachel Davis (Bethel, DE) and fellow sophomore Alyssa Giampolo (East Windsor, NH) had two hits apiece for GBC, and freshman Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) added one, giving her a hit in seven of the squad's eight contests.  Giampolo (0-2) permitted five runs – two earned – and eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Goldey-Beacom is off until March 15, when it visits Bowie State for a 2:30 pm doubleheader in Bowie, MD.
