On a sunny day with clouds looming in the distance, the Lightning beat the storm and Felician in a hurry by scores of 6-5 and 6-3 at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.
In game one, Shelby Murphy, the sophomore from Delmar High School, got the Lightning started with a two-run triple down the right field line. Charlee King (Sr., Hodgson Vo-Tech) followed with an RBI single to score Murphy (2 for 4), and decreased the Golden Falcons (8-11, 0-4 CACC) lead to 4-3.
During the third inning, Kelsey Brandle, junior shortstop from Bethlehem, Pa., hit a momentous two-run double toward left center field which boosted the Lightning to a 5-4 lead.Â

With two outs in the ninth inning, Alyssa Giampolo (East Windsor, N.J.) drove home Autumn Hollis (Elkton, Md.) with the game-winning single. Giampolo (1-3) earned the win, pitching all nine innings and allowing five earned runs.
Murphy started the second game hot hitting a single, and followed up stealing two consecutive bases to reach third. She would tally four stolen bases while going 2-for-4. Rachel Davis (Bethel, Del.) would bring home Murphy on the fielder's choice.
The Lightning tacked on their lead in the fourth inning when Paulynn Mao, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., tripled down the left side scoring one run, giving the Lightning a 6-0 lead.
Mao's triple is her 100th career hit. She is the 25th player in school history to reach this milestone.
Kylie Doyle (2-3), the junior from Tower City, Pa., received the win for the Lightning pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowing three earned runs. Giampolo finished the game by earning the save, striking out two over 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
The next Goldey-Beacom softball (4-8, 3-1 CACC) game is Sunday in the Jackson Athletic Complex, where they will take on Mercy University at 1:00 pm.
