Goldey-Beacom ran into two tough opponents on its first day of play in North Carolina by falling to 25th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne, 13-0, before a 10-1 loss to Mount Olive in Hickory, NC.

Lenoir-Rhyne in game one got all of its scoring over the first two innings.  Savannah Davis capped the eight-run opening frame with a three-run triple and Erin Boone had a two-run double in the second.

Sophomore Shelby Murphy (Laurel, DE) and freshman Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) got a hit apiece for the Lightning.  Tower City, PA junior Kylie Doyle (0-1) permitted eight runs – three earned – and five hits over 2/3 of an inning.

Davis ended with three hits and three RBI for the Bears.  Sydney Miller (3-2) got the win, yielding two hits over three innings with three strikeouts.

Against Mount Olive, GBC notched its only run when Alyssa Giampolo (East Windsor, NJ) singled home fellow sophomore Rachel Davis (Bethel, DE).  Junior Lauren Conway (Hammonton, NJ), senior Ryann Farley (Barnegat, NJ) and sophomore Alexa Calareso (Millville, NJ) also had singles for the Lightning (1-3).
