Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls, 82-67, at Division I Morgan State

Goldey-Beacom for the fourth straight year faced a Division I foe and this year did its best against Morgan State, only to be handed an 82-67 loss in Baltimore, MD.

Morgan State (3-2) opened a 46-24 halftime lead by shooting 53 percent (16-of-30) from the field and limiting GBC to just 19 percent (5-of-27).  That was keyed by a 21-3 run over 10 minutes which gave the home side a 28-7 lead with 6:48 left, thanks to Tyler Streeter's six points.

Kyson Rawls scored 13 points in the half with three 3-pointers over just nine minutes off the bench for the Bears, who held a 26-16 rebounding edge.  Senior Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) had seven points and five rebounds in the half for the Lightning and junior Troy Stancil (Washington, DC) also netted seven points.

GBC, which in the last three years faced the likes of Coppin State and Delaware, tonight hung around by outscoring Morgan State 43-36 in the second half to make it a 15-point final.  Thompson netted 16 points in the half and Stancil added nine to help the Lightning shoot 58 percent (14-of-24) from the floor in that span with five 3-pointers.

Thompson closed with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds, Stancil netted 14 points and freshman Tevin Service (Union, NJ) added 11 for GBC, which shot 37 percent (19-of-51) from the field.

LaPri McCray-Pace netted 21 points on 6-of-6 shooting and went 7-for-10 from the line for the Bears, who shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field.  Rawls and Streeter poured in 13 points apiece.

Goldey-Beacom is home Sunday against New Haven for a 2:00 pm contest.
