Declyn Brown Picked to CACC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

An undefeated weekend for Goldey-Beacom's soccer teams saw Jane Grimley (Franklinville, NJ) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week and junior Declyn Brown (Glasgow, Scotland) picked to the Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll.

Grimley scored twice in lifting GBC to a 3-0 season-opening victory Sunday over Barton. It was her second career brace and helped the Lightning to their most lopsided opening-day triumph in 12 years.

Grimley, one of six from last year's squad to start all 18 contests, now has nine goals and 22 points to her credit. Her game-winning goal from Sunday matches her total from each of the two previous campaigns.

Brown had a goal and an assist Thursday in Goldey-Beacom's 3-1 season-opening victory at Pittsburgh-Johnstown. He scored the season's first goal in the sixth minute to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead and then assisted on Rerom Delys' marker in the 32nd minute for a 2-0 margin.

Brown, who has been a valuable player in two-plus seasons, finally was rewarded with his first career goal. The co-captain has started 34 of his 36 games played in his career.

Both teams return to action Wednesday. The women are on the road at Chowan and the men play their home opener against Saint Thomas Aquinas.
