(2016 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom's volleyball team in 2016 begins a new era and does so with a tough schedule that was just revealed.

The season begins September 8 at home against Cheyney and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference slate commences eight days later at Holy Family.

GBC hosts reigning CACC South champion Philadelphia University on September 30 and, after two road non-conference tilts, welcomes second-place Wilmington (DE) on October 5.

If that was not tough enough, two-time defending league champion Post pays a visit to Pike Creek on October 7.  Regular-season play ends November 12 at home against Chestnut Hill.

Teams play each of their six division opponents twice and the seven teams in the opposite division once.  The top four teams in each division compete in the CACC Tournament, which begins November 15.  The semifinals and final take place later that week in Newark, DE.

Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE), who is seventh in school history with 617 kills, has been a key player at outside hitter for three years and looks for more of the same this season.  She closed last year 20th in the CACC with 2.65 kills per set and 35th with 2.58 digs per set.

Sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) was a vital addition last year at setter with her intuitive play and is seventh in school history with 707 assists.  She finished last season 168th in the nation with 7.52 assists per set and 176th with 0.32 aces per set (32 total).

Goldey-Beacom only needs four victories to reach 250 in school history.

GBC begins the season with Bob Trinsey taking over as head coach.  Trinsey in 1996 co-founded the Brandywine Volleyball Club and since has served as a coach.  Among his accomplishments include leading the U-15 team in 2010-11 team to nationals in Atlanta, the U-14 squad in 2009-10 to nationals in Reno, NV and the U-16 team in 2014-15 to nationals in New Orleans.  He also has run summer camps with the club since 2006.

Trinsey also was the head coach at Wilmington Friends from 1999-2009 and has been its assistant coach since 2014.  He has over 100 victories during his time there and twice was voted Delaware Volleyball High School Coach of the Year (2008 & 2009).
