Men’s Soccer Picked 11th in CACC Preseason Poll

Goldey-Beacom's men's soccer team has been picked to finish 11th in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference based on a poll of the league's coaches.

The Lightning (7-12, 5-7 CACC) a season ago posted shutouts in their final two games to clinch their first conference tournament spot since 2009. This included a 1-0 victory over Bloomfield and a 3-0 blanking of Holy Family.

Sophomore goalkeeper Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) was an integral part of last year's success and once again should play a key role. He closed 62nd in the country with 72 saves, 102nd with 4.0 per game and tied for seventh in the CACC with seven victories.

Junior Omar Hernandez (West Grove, PA) is back at forward after ending tied for 32nd in the CACC with nine points last season and tied for 22nd with four goals. Senior Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil), who this summer played for Tormenta FC in Georgia, and sophomore Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) each closed tied for second on the squad with eight points.

Wilmington (DE) was picked to win with eight of the 13 first-place votes.

Goldey-Beacom begins its season September 1 at Pittsburgh-Johnstown and the home opener is September 7 vs. Saint Thomas Aquinas.
