(2016 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom's men's soccer squad always faces a tough schedule and the 2016 version that was released should prove to be no different.

The 18-game regular-season journey commences September 1 at Pittsburgh-Johnstown and continues six days later with the home opener vs. Saint Thomas Aquinas.  Play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference starts September 10 at Nyack.

Once late September rolls around, things really start to pick up for GBC and that includes a contest at reigning CACC champion Bloomfield on the 24th.  Homecoming Weekend sees the team host Felician on October 1 before a formidable test at Dominican (NY) on October 8.

The two final league games feature the top two teams from last year's standings.  The Lightning visit second-place Post on October 22 before hosting regular-season champion Wilmington (DE) on the 25th.  Wilmington last season advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The league's top eight teams compete in the CACC Tournament, which begins November 1.  The semifinals and final take place later that week in Lakewood, NJ.

The Lightning (7-12, 5-7 CACC) a season ago posted shutouts in their final two games to clinch their first conference tournament spot since 2009.  This included a 1-0 victory over Bloomfield and a 3-0 blanking of Holy Family.

Sophomore goalkeeper Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) was an integral part of last year's success and once again should play a key role.  He closed 62nd in the country with 72 saves, 102nd with 4.0 per game and tied for seventh in the CACC with seven victories.

Junior Omar Hernandez (West Grove, PA) is back at forward after ending tied for 32nd in the CACC with nine points last season and tied for 22nd with four goals.  Senior Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil), who this summer played for Tormenta FC in Georgia, and sophomore Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) each closed tied for second on the squad with eight points.
