Junior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) notched a pair of impressive victories as shorthanded Goldey-Beacom ended the season with a 7-2 loss at Queens (NY) in Flushing, NY.

Beg teamed with junior Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) at No. 2 doubles and posted a 9-7 triumph over Andrea Samson and Frederike Borner.  This was the Lightning's only doubles win as it forfeited No. 3 doubles as well as sixth singles for a 3-1 deficit.

The victory was Mrad's 25th career in doubles, moving her into sole possession of seventh place in school history.  Junior teammate Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) is sixth with 33.

Beg then faced Sumeera Kamil at first singles and rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 triumph.

The day culminated a season in which the Lightning (8-7) posted their eighth straight winning campaign, which in the fall included their eighth straight trip to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference semifinals.  Also among the highlights this season included freshman Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) going 16-4, tied for the fourth-most single-season wins in program history, advancing to the ITA "B" flight final and being named the league's Rookie of the Year..

Queens (14-2) is ranked second in the NCAA East Region.
